Boondocking in Alabama Hills

So if you ever want an amazing place to camp, then Alabama Hills is your place. But there are no camping sites. That means no bathrooms, campfire pits, tables or water. But if you’re like me, this is heaven. It also has some of the most amazing views you can get. And if you have ever wanted to hike to the highest point in the lower 48 states. Then you will be able to see Mt. Whitney right from where you are staying. Mt. Whitney is 14,505′ and is such an amazing hike.

So when I was in Alabama Hills I so wanted to test my solar system that I have been working on in the Prius. Yes, you read that right. I’m putting solar on a Prius. With all of the camera equipment, a Dometic fridge, laptop, rechargeable batteries, headlamps & phone. I don’t want to have my car running to keep them charging. So that is why I put solar onto a Prius. I hope to do a post on my solar build. But I’m still in the process of getting it all together. But below you will see how I was testing out the placement of the solar panel. I’m not sure if I want it to go up like it is or if I would rather have it tilt on its side so that it won’t be so high. But if I do it on the side it will be more work. So more tests will have to come. But doing tests in places like this is fine by me.

The above photo will show the solar panel being angeled towards the sun so that it will collect more power. The below photo shows the solar panel pushed down and locked into place.

So when I was leaving the amazing boondocking in Alabama Hills. I was driving out and past these beauties. So if you know me, I had to pull over and see them. I also had to take a couple of photos.
