La Ventana Natural Arch Trailhead

I don’t know about you, but I love to see Natural Arches. I know that there are a ton of them all over. But I just love seeing them. The La Ventana Natural Arch is located in The El Malpais National Conservation Area. Which was established in 1987 to protect nationally significant geological, archaeological, ecological, cultural, scenic, scientific, and wilderness resources surrounding the Zuni-Bandera volcanic fields. El Malpais translates to “the badlands” in Spanish.

If you have kids you will want to download The El Malpais NCA Junior Ranger Guide. Even if you don’t have kids you might want to check it out. I always love learning about the area that I’m traveling to.

You will also see from the photos below that the trail is just a short little hike. It was great getting out and being able to hike around for just a little bit. The trail is about .04 miles and will only take you about 10 minutes to hike. Unless you are like me and was checking out the area. Always things to see.
