Desert View Tower & Boulder Park

So I was driving West on Highway 8 coming from the Center of the World.  On the top of a hill sits a place called Desert View Tower.  This place has been on my bucket list for some time and every time I would drive on this road I just never had time to stop or it was too late or something.  Well, today I was going to finally be able to stop and check it out.  So before I got there I pulled off the highway and took some pictures of Desert View Tower looking from the Highway.

Details:

  1. Exit 77 off Highway 8
  2. Address: Old Hig 80, In-Ko-Pah Park Rd, Jacumba Hot Springs, CA 91934
  3. Cost is 6 Dollars to see both.  To go up in the Tower and to walk around the Boulder Park.

So I guess you know which exit to get off at to be able to stop at the Desert View Tower if you are coming from the West.  So if you do get time to make it to the Desert View Tower, this won’t be an all day trip.  You probably will be here about 30 minutes to an hour.  But after you check out the Desert View Tower and just start driving.  You might want to check out the Coyotes Flying Saucer Repair Shop.

So the following picture is from the Desert View Tower looking down at Highway 8 from which I took the picture from above.

This is a 360 picture so if you’re on a phone move your phone around.  If you’re using a computer, press the picture with your mouse cursor and move the picture around.

So when you walk from the Desert View Tower you will see the California Registered Historical Landmark No. 939 sign.  After seeing the sign you can walk to the Boulder Park and there you will be able to climb around the rocks and see the Rock art that has been built into the rocks.

So this is the very beging of the Boulder Rock area.  If you have kids they are just going to love you.  I didn’t have my kids but did have my puppy and he loved it as much as I did.
