So the Mojave Lava Tubes was something that I had been wanting to see for a long time. I had seen so many amazing pictures and I was lucky to be able to see it just like I saw in the pictures. So after you get off the main road – Kelbaker Rd. and onto the dirt road, you will drive about 4.5 miles to the split in the road (pictured below). You will take a left where the sign says “Lava Tube Trail” See the next picture for what it looks like.
You’re going to drive down a one lane road, here is where you hope that no one is coming. It isn’t very far and you will come to a place to park. So after you park your car. You will then have to hike up to the Lava Tubes. It’s a pretty easy hike and it is about 1/4 mile to the Lava Tubes from the parking lot.
When you see the following post in the ground you will take a right and walk to the Lava Tubes it is a very short hike from this point.
So this is the ladder that will take you into the Mojave Lava Tubes.
So after you go down the ladder to get into the Lava Tube you will have to go under this low ceiling that might be about 3 foot off the ground. I didn’t have to get on my knees or anything but I did have to crouch down really low. You will want to bring a flashlight which stupid me forgot. So I used my cell phone light and it worked fine. But if you have a group it will make it harder and you really don’t want to hit your head. Luckily I didn’t hit my head but I bet it would hurt so bad if I would have.
